Who is Florensis? Florensis delivers young plants for the professional grower. The assortment consists of bedding plants of annuals, Pansies, Primroses, perennials and pot plants as Cyclamen. Plants are delivered both from seed and from cuttings. History Mr. Jan Hamer sr. (1920 – 2005) started his trade in flower seeds in 1943. In the early seventies this was extended to trade in seed and young plants from seed. Building its own nursery in 1986 has given the company a tremendous impulse. Firth the young plants were delivered on seedling boxes, later on the speed cell was developed and from January 2006 onwards Florensis delivers young plants in a hard plastic tray which can be used several times. In 1993 Florensis started also delivering young plants from cuttings. The production of cuttings and rooting are all done within the company. The assortment consists next to annuals also perennials from cuttings. Organisation Florensis has own breeding in Quedlinburg (Germany). Next to this Kieft Seeds, in which Florensis has participation, has a Florensis-program for breeding and seed production. Seed treatment (priming, pelleting, coating) is handled by Seed Tuning. For the production of cuttings Florensis has 3 subsidiaries. One in Kenya, one in Ethiopia and for the production of Petunia-cuttings one in Portugal. As of January 1st 2008 the young plant production has been centralized in H.I.Ambacht, were in high season an extra 11 ha is rented next to the own 7 ha. Concerning sales Florensis aims mainly on the European market. Next to a own sales office in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and United Kingdom, Florensis also has agents or retailers in several other European countries. |  |
