This is what colours tell us about our feelings

Very Peri is the new colour of the year 2022. What does colour say to our emotions? And how can we apply this in the horticultural sector? How we interpret colours often has to do with our culture and the situation we find ourselves in. For example, in England green is associated with jealousy. In Germany, on the other hand, yellow is the colour of jealousy. We often associate red with love, but in a certain situation red can mean danger. Nevertheless, there are general findings about colour and emotions. The following colours are the most popular in the horticultural sector.

Purple
Purple is a colour that stands for mystery and spirituality. It boosts your imagination and makes you feel creative. It is also a colour for royalty and wealth. Light purple is often used in beauty products because of its calm appearance. Give a plant with purple flowers to somebody when you want to express admiration for his or her accomplishments or important life event.

Blue
Blue is seen as a stable and most favourite colour. It makes you feel safe and secure because it causes your body to produce calming chemicals. Blue can also bring emotions of spirituality. On the other hand too much blue can make you feel ‘blue’: cold and lonely. Using light blue can cause a more friendly feeling and gives a personal touch. Plants with blue flowers should be given when you want to express trust, honesty, loyalty, or sympathy. Give our blue Salvia Mysty as a gift of sympathy.
